On July 7, 2022, China Energy China Gezhouba International Company and the Indonesian National Electric Power Company signed a contract for the construction of the Indonesian Upper West Sokan Pumped Storage Power Station.

Where is sisokan pumped storage power station located?

Signing site The Upper Sisokan Pumped Storage Power Station is located in the upper reaches of the Sisokhan River in Java Island, Indonesia, 190km away from the capital Jakarta and about 65km away from Bandung. The power station is equipped with four 260-megawatt generator sets with a total installed capacity of 1,040 megawatts.

When will the ESIA projects be completed?

Prefeasibility studies for both projects were completed in 2023, while feasibility studies for both projects are under way. The two ESIA studies which are subject of this prequalification will complete the ongoing feasibility studies. The ESIAs will be co-funded by KfW in the framework of the Sustainable Hydropower Programme III.
